2016 Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance
Friends and family gathered at the Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance on June 19th for this longtime Father’s Day tradition. This year’s “Fast Lane” theme brought out the supercars among the usual wide array of exhibited automobiles. Automakers also participated, displaying their most elite sports cars. Our favorite “Super Sport” was a Classic — Peter & Merle Mullin’s 1932 Bugatti Type 55, which held center stage on the boulevard. Classic heavy metal also lined the 400 block of Rodeo Drive, starting with a 1929 Packard 645 Dual-Cowl Phaeton. Spectators strolled, perusing the cars and visiting with friends. By midday it was time to find shade! The temperature rose to triple digits and the venue offered great escapes: streetside restaurants and luxury shopping for “retail therapy.” In spite of the heat, it was a perfectly memorable day. We look for forward to next year’s event and thank Bruce Meyer, Tom Kenney and all the event organizers for their hospitality!
